Speaker of the House Mrs Pelosi criticized the three lawmakers and Rep. Ayanna Pressley for being the only four Democrats that opposed legislation that would provide protections to migrant children in detention centers despite being the first people to criticise President Trump of running a concentration camp.
According to New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd, California Democrat Nancy Pelosi said,
“All these people have their public whatever and their Twitter world. But they didn’t have any following. They’re four people and that’s how many votes they got,” the California Democrat said, according to New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd.
Rep.Ilhan Omar fired back, saying, Mrs. Pelosi’s statement was “patetico,” the Spanish word for pathetic.
The Minnesota Democrats tweeted that, “You know they’re just salty about WHO is wielding the power to shift ‘public sentiment’ these days, sis. Sorry not sorry. “
Ms. Ocasio-Cortez responded quickly To Nancy Pelosi’s statement ;
“That public ‘whatever’ is called public sentiment. And Wielding the power to shift it is how we actually achieve meaningful change in this country,” the New York Democrat tweeted.
She said, “I find it strange when members act as though social media isn’t important. They set millions of [dollars] on [fire] to run TV ads so people can see their message. I haven’t dialed for dollars once this year, & have more time to do my actual job. Yet we’d rather campaign like it’s 2008. “
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Chief of Staff Saikat Chakrabarti said the four Democrats opposed the measure because they feared Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell would go back on a promise to pass the House bill.
Ms. Tlaib responded late on Sunday: “Nah. It is deeper than that. Why would we fund a broken system that rips children away from their parents, deny asylum seekers due process & fuels a racist ideology that dehumanizes people?”
The Michigan Democrat added, – “It baffles the mind that some still don’t get it. When people like me come out, we win. When #PeopleLikeUs run, we inspire more folks to be engaged. It wasn’t the persuading of Trumpers that won back the majority, it was turning out more of us.”
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi knows she needs to get a tighter grip on the troublemakers in her caucus. That’s the crew who’s peddled anti-Semitic tropes, said our border detention facilities were like Nazi concentration camps, and all-around just create an unneeded controversy for the Democratic Party. We’re talking about Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). These ladies form a three-headed monster in politics right now. For all you Godzilla fans, think King Ghidorah. Oh, and then there’s the fourth musketeer Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA).
These women have caused the Democratic leadership some form of heartburn since the early part of this year. Once again, Pelosi dismissed this far left sorority and their position on the Hill, which prompted AOC to respond and led to Omar joining in on the fun in solidarity on fox news
From anti-Semitic talking points to openly saying they would target incumbent Democrats if need be to make the party more left wing, they have a lot of clout for a group that Pelosi dismisses as a caucus that’s heavily over-represented due to their social media presence. And yet, most of the 2020 Democratic field has signed on to the insanity that is the Green New Deal or tailoring their climate agendas to this blueprint.
